From April 17th through Holy Wednesday, the Hellenic Relief Foundation and their partner organization held their Easter distribution, at their headquarters in Athens, in partnership with the Social Committee of the Athenian Society. Around 460 food packages were distributed, of which 50 were set aside for distributions in Corfu. The packages contained basic food staples and non-perishables, such as oil, pasta, legumes, rice, flour, milk, sugar, coffee, and more. In addition, everything required for the traditional Easter table was also doled out, such as lamb, pork, chicken, eggs, tsoureki, butter, juice, and more, compliments of the H.R.F. and other Greek companies.
Besides the food packages, new clothes were provided to the beneficiaries, complements of Frangos AE, as well as shoes for the beneficiaries’ children. Food packages and special Easter foods were also provided to the Mutual Assitance Fund of the Association of Greek Actors (ΤΑΣΕΗ), the ETE, the Meropeio Nursing Home of Athens, the Special Needs School of Pireaus, and the St. Nicholas Foundation.
The distribution was organized under the direction of Ms. Maria Siourdi, director of the H.R.F’s partner organization, and with the assistance of volunteers including Soula Belli, Antonia Pantouvaki, and Nota Alamagkou.
The H.R.F.’s distribution efforts were made possible by the N. Konstantopoulou – Kydalion Group ATE, the Social Committee of the Athenian Society, Agrovim, Food Bank, Coca-Cola, Loulis Mills, The Mart Group, Kamilaris AEBE – Ariston Butter, Vaggelis Chitas of Chitas Farms (meat), the 2nd Municipal Market of Athens through their President Mr. Moulatos (potatoes and eggs), Karamolegos (tsourekia, bread), Tottis Bingo, Frangos AE (clothing), Meridian and Buffalo Plast – Minoglou (shoes).

The Hellenic Relief Foundation Inc. is a non profit organization (501(c)3) and was founded in 2012, with the goal of raising funds in the United States to be used towards the purchase of food items, and other basic necessities for the underprivileged in Greece that have increased in numbers due to the current crisis. To date, around 800,000 dollars have been remitted, and with donations within Greece, as well as volunteered social and medicinal services, the true value of the aid is roughly 1.5 million dollars.
