“The operation of the Single Digital List of Surgeries and the establishment of a Committee of Surgeries for National Health System hospitals, with the aim of reducing waiting times for patients, will start from February 1,” government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis announced during a press briefing on Thursday.
The list is being updated with the necessary information on the clinical assessment of each citizen needing surgery and interoperates with every necessary information system and structured data system, such as the National Patient Registers and the Individual Electronic Health File, he said.
Marinakis also referred to the benefits of making a Single Digital List of Surgeries, stressing that “it constitutes an important reform in the field of health that will ensure the reduction of waiting times, monitor the clinical characteristics of patients and facilitate the work of doctors, tackling phenomena of delays and problems in the system that were ultimately detrimental for patients.”
The government spokesperson reiterated that “the health sector is a first priority for the government and we will continue with targeted actions to strengthen public health and strengthen the national health system in terms of infrastructure and human resources.”
Marinakis underlined that the prime minister is currently holding meetings with representatives of global companies, presenting the prospects of the Greek economy after its recovery of an investment grade rating and Greece’s great success in reducing unemployment and emerging as a champion in exports and foreign direct investments.
