Olympic gold medalist Mark Schultz has a major milestone to be proud of. He will be inducted into the 2015 class of the Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame.
Mark will share this honor with his late brother, wrestling champion Dave Schultz. They are among 10 individuals that will be inducted into the Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame, and the ceremony will take place on July 23 in San Mateo. It is located at the San Mateo County History Museum in downtown Redwood City.

Both Dave and Mark Schultz went to Palo Alto High School, and they won the gold medal in wrestling at the 1984 Olympic Games. Dave was a high school state champion in 1977, and he was murdered in 1996 by eccentric millionaire John du Pont. They were the subject of the 2014 Academy Award-nominated film Foxcatcher.

Schultz also wrote his sports biography, Foxcatcher: The True Story of My Brother’s Murder, John du Pont’s Madness, and the Quest for Olympic Gold, which became a New York Times best-selling book. Wrestling and sports fans can check out Mark Schultz’ book on Amazon, by clicking here. Schultz’ book garnered rave reviews from Digital Journal, which complimented it as “The best sports biography of 2014.”

This will be Mark Schultz’ fourth Hall of Fame induction. He is a member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame (1995), the California Wrestling Hall of Fame (2000), and the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame (2010). Congratulations to Mark Schultz on this well-deserved recognition.
