Special to the Hellenic News of America
Congratulations are in order for #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos. The Greek-American press has bestowed another grand honor upon his good name recognizing him as the 2021 “Journalist of the Year,” which is a very deserving accolade for this hard-working, passionate, and most sought-after editor and journalist.
“Thank you so much to publishers Paul Kotrotsios and Aphrodite Kotrotsios for paying tribute to my work,” Papadatos said effusively. “This means so much to me coming from my very own culture and heritage. My mother, Effie, will certainly be very proud.”
“It took me 15 years and 15,500 articles to become an overnight success, but it has all been worth it. I say this every single day: ‘I have the best job in the world’ and it doesn’t even feel like work, it is pleasure and enjoyment for me,” he said.
“I am so lucky because I get to interview the greatest people in the worlds of acting, entertainment, music, swimming, track and field, magic, food, and lifestyle,” he added.
Papadatos was previously recognized as “Journalist of the Year” at the 2017 Hellenic News Hall of Fame Awards, which coincided with the 30th anniversary of the Hellenic News newspaper.
“That was such an amazing night at The Merion in Cinnaminson, New Jersey, and one that I will never forget since my mother was there with me in person with me, so to celebrate that magnanimous moment with her and the rest of the Greek-American community made it very special. Also, to be the youngest honoree that evening was humbling,” Papadatos said.
Papadatos serves as Editor-at-Large of the online news publication Digital Journal, and Managing Editor of Raver Magazine. He is also a best-selling author since he co-authored the book “Manifesting Your Dreams,” which went No. 1 on three Amazon sections.
This year, Papadatos swept the 2021 “Best of Long Island” Awards winning all four categories he was nominated in. These titles included “Best Author on Long Island,” “Best Blogger from Long Island,” “Best Poet” and the coveted “Best Long Island Personality” for the second consecutive time.
“To be named ‘Best Long Island Personality’ for two consecutive years means the world to me since this category has gone to my childhood hero Billy Joel six times, and to the distinguished wrestler Brimstone twice, so I am in incredible company,” Papadatos said.
