(Paoli, PA, November 17, 2015) – For the third time, Paoli Hospital, part of Main Line Health, was named a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America. Paoli Hospital was recognized for their exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions.

“It is an honor to once again receive recognition by The Joint Commission for achieving superior quality outcomes for our patients,” said Jim Paradis, President of Paoli Hospital, part of Main Line Health. “This achievement would not be possible without the dedication and teamwork of our entire staff who work each day to provide an exceptional experience to all who come to us for care.”

Paoli is one of 1,043 hospitals in the U.S. earning the distinction of Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance. Main Line Health’s Riddle Hospital also made the list.

The Top Performer on Key Quality Measures list recognizes health care organizations for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance. Paoli was recognized for its achievement on the following measure sets: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, stroke and surgical care. The ratings are based on an aggregation of accountability measure data reported to The Joint Commission during the 2014 calendar year.

To be a 2015 Top Performer, hospitals had to meet three performance criteria based on 2014 accountability measure data, including:

  • Achieving cumulative performance of 95 percent or above across all reported accountability measures;
  • Achieving performance of 95 percent or above on each and every reported accountability measure where there were at least 30 denominator cases; and
  • Having at least one core measure set that had a composite rate of 95 percent or above, and (within that measure set) all applicable individual accountability measures had a performance rate of 95 percent or above.

“Delivering the right treatment in the right way at the right time is a cornerstone of high-quality health care. I commend the efforts of Paoli Hospital for their excellent performance on the use of evidence-based interventions,” said Mark R. Chassin, M.D., FACP, M.P.P., M.P.H., president and CEO, The Joint Commission.
