“The new anti-Greek delirium of the Turkish President, with its delusional asides asserting that Greece is not Turkey’s equal or that it supposedly adopts an ‘undignified attitude’, as well as the delivery of a diplomatic note to the Greek ambassador in Ankara regarding the status of the Greek islands of the Eastern Aegean, once again sound the alarm for allies and partners,” opposition PASOK-Movement for Change said on Tuesday in a statement.
PASOK-Movement for Change pointed out that Erdogan’s revisionism requires a tangible response.

“International law is the greatest weapon of our country,” the party statement underlined, calling on Greece’s partners “to stop sleepwalking in the face of continuous Turkish provocations”.

The party proposed action on a European level, and proceeding with the formation of a special EU-Turkey relationship with automatic sanctions when international law and human rights are violated.

“Every day, the need to impose an arms embargo becomes ever clearer. Those who continue to arm Turkey are directly undermining European solidarity and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean,” concluded the PASOK-KINAL announcement.
