Prime Minister Kyriakos, in an interview with Skai TV on Friday, requested a clear victory for New Democracy on Sunday, “so that everyone knows who will govern the country.”

“The last thing the country needs is instability,” Mitsotakis said. With reference to the furore surrounding George Katrougalos in the wake of his statements regarding higher social security levies for the self-employed, the prime minister stressed that “what Katrougalos said was not an accident, it is the dominant view within SYRIZA – this is their secret plan.” He urged everyone who does not want see such policies enacted to vote in the elections on Sunday.

Referring to political developments in Turkey, the prime minister underlined: “I will obviously call Erdogan to congratulate him on his possible victory, as I would do if Kilicdaroglu wins the elections.” He insisted that “I will continue to extend my hand in friendship towards Turkey, but I am not naive. Revisionism is deeply rooted, we will continue a policy of judicious arms procurements and of upgrading the country’s prestige internationally.”
