Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during the last day of his visit to Japan, on Tuesday addressed a Greek-Japanese business conference organised at offices of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) in Tokyo, with the participation of Enterprise Greece.

“If you look at where Greece was five or ten years ago, it would be difficult to imagine that it is now among the foremost European countries in terms of growth rates, one of the countries that are on the front line in both the green and the digital transitions. And yet, this is what happened. It happened because we are steadfast in our pledge to deeply change the ‘fabric’ of the Greek economy, to make it more extrovert, more open to the world, to increase our exports as a percentage of GDP and also to turn the country into an attractive destination for foreign direct investments.”

“I believe that there are now many convincing reasons why a Japanese company would consider investing in Greece,” Mitsotakis said, adding: “It is not just its unique geographical position at the crossroads of three continents, nor the fact that we offer access to the largest single market in the world. It also linked to the fact that our government is deeply focused on making the life and business activity of every foreign investor in Greece easier and unobstructed”.

Additionally, he underlined that Greece offers very interesting investment opportunities in all areas and a great many sectors, which are not restricted to tourism only but also in areas such as infrastructure, renewable energy sources, services and sectors relating to the green and digital transitions.

A MOU between Enterprise Greece and Jetro was signed during the event.
