The existence of an island where some consider themselves above the law is “inconceivable”, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis underlined on Wednesday at a meeting held at the Maximos Mansion to discuss issues concerning the island of Mykonos.

This situation must be addressed decisively,” said Mitsotakis, who chaired the meeting.
The meeting discussed interventions regarding urban planning issues and law enforcement on the island.

In this context, it was decided that a mixed team made up of a building inspector, an environmental inspector and the a financial police officer will go to the island next week in order to investigate all complaints of illegal construction and take the necessary measures,
Additionally, under an amendment voted in parliament on Tuesday, all building work in areas outside the town plan on the island has been suspended.
