On Saturday, May 12, 2012, the 21st Anniversary GALA of the Hellenic Times Scholarship Fund (HTSF) will take place at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City, where scholarships will be presented to some of the brightest Greek-American scholars in the nation. Over the past two decades, it has awarded scholarships to over eight hundred students, in excess of two million dollars.


Mr. Nick Katsoris, attorney and author of the Loukoumi book series, serves as President of the HTSF and Dinner Chairman, and Mrs. Margo Catsimatidis, the co-producer of the Hellenic Times and advertising executive is the Vice Chairman of the HTSF.

This year’s “Leadership Humanitarian Award” will go to Dennis Mehiel, the Chairman and CEO of US Corrugated, Inc. Chief Congressional Correspondent Mike Emanuel from Fox News will be honored with the “Media Achievement Humanitarian Award.”


It will feature musical performances from Greek senseation Yiannis Ploutarxos, Grammy-nominated vocalist Maxine Nightingale, Constantine Maroulis, as well as Kalomira who also performed last year.


Similar to last year’s event it will sponsor two stimulating workshops in the fields of “Business, Law and Real Estate,” as well as “Media/Journalism and the Arts,” where admission is free to these workshops with the purchase of a GALA ticket. Featured panelists will include John Catsimatidis, the Chairman and CEO of the Red Apple Group and publisher of the Hellenic Times, Chief Congressional Correspondent Mike Emanuel, Dennis Mehiel, Academy Award Winner Olympia Dukakis, John Aniston from Days of Our Lives, Frank Dicopoulos from Guiding Light, CBS Anchor Alexis Christoforous , Fashion Designer Joanna Mastroianni, as well as attorney Peter Kakoyiannis.


Other distinguished guests that will be a part of this year’s GALA include Fox News anchor Ernie Anastos, Fox 5 chief meteorologist Nick Gregory, Tony nominated actor and American Idol alum Constantine Maroulis, Kalomira and actor Gilles Marini from Dancing With the Stars.
