“The protection of borders and human rights are not incompatible but complementary concepts. Greece effectively guards its borders, while respecting all international treaties,” the Greek delegation participating in the European Committee of the Regions meeting said on Friday.
Citizen Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos pointed out, among others, that no one can enter Greece illegally from the borders of Evros, while he added that Europe must thank Greece, which guards not only its own borders but also those of Europe. According to the minister, 44,000 Ukrainians have come to Greece since the start of the war.
