Nisi Estiatorio is a modern Greek restaurant that is located in Astoria, New York. HNA’s Markos Papadatos has the recap.

It celebrates the traditional Greek culture and cuisine with a modern twist to it. In the Greek language, the word “Nisi” translates into “Island.” This journalist had the opportunity to dine on Wednesday, April 10th. Patrons should be prepared to be blown away.

For appetizers, one should try their “Spanakopita,” which is spinach and feta cheese in filo dough; moreover, it is both a healthy and light choice, and it is served alongside creamy Greek yogurt.

Their “Cretan Dakos Salad” is made up of Cretan crackers, tomatoes, fresh oregano, onions, mizithra cheese, and topped with crumbled feta cheese.

Their “Halloumi” cheese sticks were mellow and tangy.

Their “Lamb Chops” were grilled, tender and juicy, accompanied with herbs and lemon potatoes.

Equally impressive was their “Xifia Souvlaki” (which translates into Swordfish Shish kebab) accompanied with lemon potatoes, Green salad and pomegranate seeds.

Desserts
Their dessert selection included “Galaktobureko,” as well as “Ekmek” and “Kormos.”

Their Galaktobureko custard cream pie was rich, savory, and fresh.

Equally remarkable was their “Ekmek,” which is a Greek pastry with custard and whipped cream pastry with syrup topped with strawberries and blackberries.

In Greek culture, “Kormos” is a deliciously simple, no-bake chocolate dessert.
