Back while the E-News was on vacation, another one of our chapters celebrated 100 years! Congratulations to Shreveport Chapter 8, which celebrated its centennial anniversary on August 19, along with their sister Chapter, DOP Ajax Chapter 211’s 75th Anniversary with a glitter filled evening at the Petroleum Club!
Attended by 100 members of the AHEPA family, Supreme Vice President E. Chris Kaitson and DOP Grand Treasurer Gretchen Holtsinger represented their respective National Lodges, and DOP District 16 Governor Paulette Pastor attended as well. Shreveport was honored to host a large contingent of brothers and sisters from Houston, as well as representatives from New Orleans, San Antonio, and Dallas.
Honored guests of the evening included Daughters of Penelope Past Grand President Mary Verges, and City of Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux (and his wife), who proclaimed August 19th, 2023 AHEPA and Daughters of Penelope Day in Shreveport, La. From the first ouzo shots at the door to the last Kalamatiano of the night, the centennial anniversary was a night to remember!
