Greek is the language of the sciences. The Socratic Method (named after Socrates 470-399 BC) is a dialectical method of inquiry that uses questions to clarify and unpack one’s beliefs, to understand the assumptions, evidence, and reasons used to support them, and to expose any contradictions, inconsistencies, and fallacies in one’s thinking.1 The Socratic method of questioning is part of Greek culture at every level of society.

The finest men of learning are part of Greece 2023, using the Socratic method in advancing their society. They have accomplished miracles in the face of economic and political problems. Their dedication to the Hippocratic Oath is part of their life. The oath states: the physician pledges to prescribe only beneficial treatments, according to his abilities and judgment; to refrain from causing harm or hurt; and to live an exemplary personal and professional life.2

Dr. Alexios Vardouniotis, a General ENT ( Ear, Nose, and Throat) surgeon of Tripolis, Greece, has an international reputation. He specializes in Allergy, Rhinology,
Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology and immunology. He works in London at numerous hospitals. Dr. Vardouniotis participated in two high-level medical conferences recently.

Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery). Dr. Vardouniotis participated in the 20th PanHellenic on Rhinology and Face Plastic Surgery. This was a very high-level conference, which was an exchange on Otolaryngology topics.

Dr. Vardouniotis participated in a research paper “The Pathophysiology of the Hygiene Hypothesis.” Their research examined the “Hygiene Hypothesis” of allergies, having an open mind on discovering the truth. In another collaborative research paper entitled “Cooking with Actinomyces; Would Hippocrates have a bite? He says “The clinician must always seek what is best for the patient… At the very center of the Hippocratic ideals are the principles of “doing no harm” and “absolute regard for life.” What is best for patients overall, as recommended in guidelines, may be inappropriate for individuals; this Hippocratic ideal is still respected, “feeding” therefore both the patient’s specific needs and the insatiable advancement of medicine in a financially demanding environment.”3 I do not have a scientific background.
