The annual AHEPA Empire District 6 Convention will be held this year at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Paul located at 110 Cathedral Avenue, Hempstead, NY. This year’s convention will be hosted by Order of AHEPA-Constantine Cassis Chapter #170, Daughters of Penelope Chapter #141, Sons of Pericles Lord Byron Chapter #233 and Maids of Athena Victory Chapter #76. The Convention will be preceded by Greek music & Greek food Taverna Style at 7 PM on Friday night. Paid reservations are required. The Convention will begin with Delegate and Alternate Delegate registration and buffet breakfast on Saturday morning and continue with AHEPA Family business meetings promptly at 9 AM. At 12 PM the Daughters of Penelope Chapter #141will host a luncheon at which District 6 scholarships will be awarded. At the conclusion of the DOP Scholarship awards luncheon Convention meetings will resume. The Convention will conclude with election and installation of officers for the Empire District 6 Lodge District 6 awards. At the conclusion of the Convention the clergy of Saint Paul Cathedral will conduct a tour of the Cathedral with its beautiful mosaics and iconography. On Sunday morning after Divine Liturgy the Sons of Pericles and the Maids of Athena will sponsor a continental breakfast for those who have a reserved a seat on the bus for a tour of the future home of Saint Michael’s Home in Uniondale. The tour will be about an hour and will be presented by His Grace Bishop Andonios. Saint Michael’s is located approximately 3 miles from St. Paul Cathedral. The bus will depart from parking lot of St. Paul Cathedral at 12 PM and return approximately 4 PM. In addition a District 6 Commemorative Journal is being developed for distribution at the Convention. Personal and/or corporate ads will be gratefully accepted. A portion of the Journal proceeds to benefit St. Michael’s Home.
