Over 200 flags have been placed at Prophet Elias GOC and Holy Trinity Cathedral in Salt Lake City, Utah. The bicentennial celebration of Greek Independence has commenced in Salt Lake City!
Mayor Rob Dahle visited Prophet Elias for a flag-raising ceremony with St. Sophia students on March 22nd. Later, Mayor Dahle was given a tour by the founders of Saint Sophia School, Elaine Bapis, Vickie Folias, and director Martha Jackson.
Holy Trinity Cathedral will offer church services at 9:00 AM on March 25th for The Feast of the Annunciation with a doxology commemorating Independence Day.
Governor Spencer Cox will also visit the parish and will sign a proclamation declaring March 25th Greek Day in the state of Utah.
Unfortunately, this event will not be open to the full parish due to COVID-19 guidelines. However, the event will be live-streamed on Facebook so that you may celebrate with the Governor. The live stream will begin at approximately 4:45 p.m.
