Minister of State Giorgos Gerapetritis on Friday replied in detail regarding the legislative measure submitted on Thursday by the government regarding the conditions for political parties to participate in the elections, in an interview with “Parapolitika” radio station.
As he noted “it is a time of responsibility for all of us, it is a moment in which the entire political system must systematically stand up to those who are alleged to be undermining democracy – and I am not talking only about this particular party but about anyone that seeks to take advantage of the tolerance of democracy with the aim of shrinking and destroying it. In these cases there can be no tolerance from the political system”.
The regulation submitted on Thursday “does not come suddenly nor does it come in a legal and factual vacuum. It comes as a culmination of an overall effort made by the State to ensure and guarantee its democracy,” he underlined.
