Citizen Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos will have a meeting with 27 ambassadors from EU countries, from countries associated with the Schengen Treaty and from the UK on Saturday, January 21, in Alexandroupolis.
The programme of the Minister of Citizen Protection is as follows:
11:30 – Welcome of a delegation of ambassadors and representatives of local authorities by Takis Theodorikakos at the prefecture
11:45-12:45 – Speech by the Minister of Citizen Protection and presentation of the migration issue and the actions of the Greek government to combat undocumented migration and protect the external borders.
Presentation of operational parameters and actions of the Hellenic Armed Forces to deal with undocumented migration flows, by the head of the Department of Aliens and Border Protection, Major General D. Mallios.
A discussion will follow.
13:00 – Departure for the Greek-Turkish border, Feron, Evros area.
13:20-14:00 – Visit to the fence on the Greek-Turkish border. Briefing of the delegation on the fence extension and the Akrita project, by the General Regional Police Director of North Macedonia and Thrace, Major General P. Syritoudis.
The visit to Evros will close with a working lunch, which will take place at 14:30-16:00.
