Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras on Thursday emphasised that the European Union must actively undertake initiatives to bring about an end of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and restore peace in the region, as he arrived at the preparatory Party of European Socialists (PES) summit.
“If this war continues much longer, it is certain that Europe will be among those most heavily defeated in this crisis. For this reason it is high time for the EU to undertake initiatives, to stop lagging behind the diplomatic and international developments and take active diplomatic initiatives for the end of invasion and for peace in the region,” he stated.
