Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras accused Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of citizens’ deceit policy during his visit on Saturday to the market of Keratsini on the occasion of the government’s measures against the increase in electricity rates.
Tsipras talked with merchants and consumers on the dramatic reduction of their income, the extremely high electricity bills that, in many cases, exceed their monthly income and the delayed and insufficient measures that Mitsotakis announced on Thursday.
Αfter the end of his tour to the market, Tsipras stated “For the last nine months we are warning that profiteering in energy will lead the society to a huge crisis. For the last nine months the government has been calling us populists and said that the price hike phenomenon is temporary. Today, terrified from the social anger, Mitsotakis proceeds with some measures which, however, do not practically touch the profiteering mechanism”.
Concluding, he expressed his certainty that the “only prospect to support the society is the political change”.
