Greek Asylum & Migration Minister Notis Mitarachi commented on allegations aired by Turkey’s Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, concerning an alleged pushback incident of a group of migrants to Turkey.
Soylu claimed in social media that 22 migrants were repelled by Greek customs officials, that 12 of them died of extreme cold, and that they were discovered in the morning by Turkish authorities lying right next to the Greek-Turkish border line.
In his statement, Mitarachi said “these migrants never reached the border line, and any suggestion that they did indeed arrive there, or that they were sent back to Turkey, is completely unfounded.”
