Giagos Rautopoulos and Spyros Karapanos enjoyed Easter celebration at 2,700 meters, on snowy Olympus, and even managed to skewer a lamb. The two friends, lovers of adventure, decided to make this expedition and live an unprecedented experience.
The Hellenic News of America contacted the director Giagos Raftopoulos after their venture went viral on social media and in the Greek press.
– Why did you decide to celebrate Easter at the highest peak in Greece?
“What is worth in life after 30, is good food, good friends and good times. The best food is undeniably available at Easter, so if you are in the best spot, you can enjoy it to the fullest. At the same time, the more you sweat for a trip, the more enjoyment the destination offers you, and which is the most difficult hiking trip? The highest point in Greece. That’s how it was decided to go to Olympus, as this term also carries the relevant symbolism”.
– How do you feel about reaching this high point and what did you get out of this adventure?
“I feel that the energy I lost is much less than the energy I gained, especially after the received love of the world for the project, which demonstrates that there is hope, that symbols like these can be consumed and understood.”
– You are a man of action and you like to have fun. Years ago, you wanted to pass the toll on horseback and eventually you received a fine.
“Knowledge is power, as long as you can convey it through art, humor and creativity. Only in this way do people accept the changes. The Patras – Athens new toll road at that time was not fully constructed, it was a single lane road that should have been for horses only.
– What is the next excursion you are preparing?
“The next excursion will concern an “epic artistic performance” on the piano with the aim of highlighting again the Greek natural wealth, which remains untapped on a global and panhellenic level, with many hidden beauties. Just wait and see”.
