“Unfortunately, the situation is difficult everywhere now,” said Professor Father Nicola Madaro of St. San Giorgio dei Greci (“Saint George of the Greeks”) Church in Castello, Venice, Northern Italy, informed me this week, during Greek Orthodox Lent. “I am well. I stay at home, praying for all People. Our Blessings with you.”

Venice is the most over visited place in Italy. Father Nicola’s photos show an empty Square near his church.  Another photo shows a few persons.  Italy is the global epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic.  There are more than 10,000 deaths. There is a nationwide lockdown, as in Greece.

All photos by Rev. Nicola Madaro.
