State Minister Makis Voridis on Monday referred to the multiple benefits that arise and will arise in the future from the reconstruction of the Athens Riviera addressing the “Athens Riviera Summit 2024”.
“The issue of the Athens Riviera is a very old thought, we are talking about it in the last 100 years,” he said, adding that the specific area is distinguished for its natural beauty, but also for its special cultural value, as it is associated with great historical moments from antiquity to the present day. “We often compare it to the Côte d’Azur,” said the Minister of State.
He then listed a series of projects that are being carried out in the wider area, with Ellinikon project being the first. According to Voridis, this is an emblematic project, with the development of tourist infrastructure projects, residential, cultural and sports facilities and is a major attraction for investors.
Regarding the projects in Elliniko, he spoke about the 50-storey residential tower, 200 meters high, which will, however, be fully in harmony with the Mediterranean landscape, as well as the complex for the disabled, a model building of inclusive living.
Other projects are the largest shopping complex in the region, which will be one of the largest in southern Europe and the creation of a marina in Vouliagmeni, which when completed will be one of the most beautiful marinas in the South-Eastern Mediterranean, while the Alimos marina.
Apart from the local benefits, there are other, broader benefits “the image of the country abroad is improving, additional investments are being attracted, domestic and foreign”, pointed out Voridis and thanked the foreign investors for the trust they show in our country.
Additionally, “the microclimate is improving, as until now we had 70% cement and this will turn into 70 percent green”. So, he continued, “even though there’s going to be all this growth, it’s done in a way that actually increases the green footprint.” It also takes advantage of new technologies, careful management of natural resources, with special attention to the use of water, maximization of recycling and regeneration of ecosystems.
