Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with President of the Cyprus Republic Nicos Anastasiades at Maximos Mansion in the context of the 9th Trilateral Greece-Cyprus-Egypt Summit that was held in Athens on Tuesday.
Referring to the Cyprus issue and Turkey, the Greek premier said that “the constant provocation and aggravating tensions is not in line with a constructive attitude that could allow for an honest discussion of a complex problem, which, given the current circumstances becomes very difficult to resolve.”
Mitsotakis added that Greece’s support to Cyprus is undivided, underlining that “we obviously always have the opportunity – as in the recent EU Council of Foreign Ministers – to raise the issue of Turkish provocations.”
President Anastasiades called Turkey’s conditionalities for a restart of a dialogue “unthinkable,” and he added that “the path we are following now is the most suitable. […] Anything else is a recipe for disaster.”
