The world is in turmoil at present and the need for strong, imaginative leadership and resilient hearts has never been greater. Serving the needs of humanity in communities across America, is a priority among Philanthropic Groups, like the Order of AHEPA and Philoptochos, two of the largest Hellenic organizations that define and inspire outstanding community citizenship. Recently, through the efforts of a few of their members, a regional committee was formed to provide needy youngsters from Westchester County with more than 40,000 Dairy-Based Protein drinks. The beverages were donated by Delta an upstate, leading Greek company and the committee made arrangements to transport them to a downstate warehouse in Elmsford, NY for distribution on March 1, 2021.
The goals from the very beginning of this project were ambitious, but the enthusiastic and aggressive way in which the committee approached this challenge has more than borne out the results. Special thanks to Eva Dushas and to AHEPA Supreme Governor and member of AHEPA Chapter #405, Tom Dushas, who arranged for a large AHEPA donation, to President Steve Eoannou of the newly reactivated William McKinley AHEPA Chapter #91 in Buffalo, Past AHEPA New Jersey Garden State District 5 Governor Zenon Christodoulou and to Ms. Despina Kartson, Member of New Rochelle’s Holy Trinity’s Philoptochos, for their visionary leadership, passion and commitment on this project. Compliments to Delta Dairy Product Milko for their extraordinary contribution. As AHEPA Supreme President, George Horiates stated, “Congratulations. Great teamwork as well”.
