An attempt is being made to restart the Greek-Turkish dialogue, Alternate Foreign Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, said on Thursday in an interview with “Open” TV.
Varvitsiotis made it clear that these are not negotiations on issues of national sovereignty, but talks on a positive agenda, such as possible cooperation to deal with migration flows.
He underlined that the government wants this dialogue to be long-term, but there should be an honest behaviour on the other side as well. Because if, as he said, the dialogue begins and at the same time Turkey returns to the rhetoric of the previous period, we will essentially have taken ten steps back.
