BRUSSELS (ANA-MPA/I. Zarkadoula) – The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) expresses the hope for a quick resolution of the case of Himare mayor Fredi Beleri so that he can be sworn in and assume his duties.
We hope for a fast resolution so that Mr. Beleri can be sworn in and assume the duties entrusted to him by his constituents, the Council of European Municipalities and Regions said in response to a question about the letter sent by the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece.
It also stated that while the Council of European Municipalities and Regions recognises the ongoing investigation by the Albanian authorities for the elected mayor of Himare, Mr. Beleri, we believe that the process will respect the fundamental global principles of the rule of law, human rights, democracy, freedom of expression and transparency.
