Chicago REALTOR® John Vranas, Vranas Ventures, Named 2013 Illinois “REALTOR® of the Year”

 

The Chicago Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) is pleased to announce that C.A.R. past-president and longtime industry leader John Vranas has been named the Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR) 2013 REALTOR® of the Year. Vranas will be formally honored on April 17 at the IAR REALTOR® of the Year banquet in Springfield.

The highest honor IAR can bestow on a member, REALTOR® of the Year is presented to an individual whose dedication to excellence has most profoundly enhanced the professional image of REALTORS® in the State of Illinois.

 

“We are incredibly gratified to see John recognized in this manner,” said C.A.R. CEO Ginger Downs, who enthusiastically received word of Vranas’ honor. “In Chicago we know John well and are continually impressed by his professional dedication and generous spirit. It is appropriate that he receive the statewide visibility he deserves.”

 

Principal of his company, Vranas Ventures, Vranas is a Chicago native who has been a partner of the Vranas & Chioros Realty Group since 1978. A Sustaining Golden R investor and member of the RPAC Hall of Fame, Vranas has held numerous REALTOR® leadership positions at the local, state and national level. In addition, he has served the community at large through the purchase, rehabilitation, leasing and management of more than 10 million square feet of investment properties in the Chicago metropolitan area.

 

Vranas’ volunteer commitments include service since 2000 to the Emergency Fund/Chicago Alliance to End Homelessness, a nonprofit that manages more than $50 million in state and federal grants for homeless services. Currently, Vranas is president of the organization’s Board of Directors.

 

Vranas has also served on the Chicago Housing Authority’s Plan for Transformation Task Force and the City of Chicago Department of Housing Advisory Group. He was honored by Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood with a Quality Management Award from the Edgewater Community Council.

 

Since 2007 Vranas has been a district representative for the national scholarship foundation of the American Hellenic Progressive Educational Association.
