MALLIOTAKIS, CATSIMATIDIS ANNOUNCE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN REBUILDING A VERY SPECIAL PLACE
Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R,C,I-Brooklyn, Staten Island) was joined by John Catsimatidis, Chairman & CEO of Red Apple Group, Inc., in announcing a $10,000 contribution toward A Very Special Place in aid of rebuilding its New Dorp Beach facility. The building, located on Cedar Grove Avenue, suffered extreme damage from Hurricane Sandy yet made its property available for storage and staging of recovery efforts throughout the storm’s aftermath.
“Not only did A Very Special Place perform a great service to those impacted by the storm in New Dorp Beach, it also provided inspiration to me and all of the volunteers that poured into the area to help out. It was amazing to see that an organization who had suffered so much, still found a way to aid the community during its darkest hour,” said Malliotakis. “We’ve seen quite a few examples of storm victims like A Very Special Place doing their part to help others despite their own suffering. Words cannot express how pleased I am that John has found a way to do something for them. A Very Special Place is a wonderful organization and we need to do everything we can to ensure that they’re in the best possible position to continue their amazing work in Staten Island.”
“I am pleased to stand here today with Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis. Nicole told me about the devastation right after the hurricane, how A Very Special Place was impacted. How this organization helped during the recovery effort despite experiencing devastation of its own. I am honored to be able to help A Very Special start its long road to recovery,” said Catsimatidis.
“We are extremely grateful for this very generous gift from Mr. Catsimatidis to help the agency rebuild from the damages of Hurricane Sandy. It is an honor to be recognized by Assemblywoman Malliotakis and Mr. Catsimatidis for our efforts in helping the New Dorp Beach community in relief support after the storm,” said Genevieve Benoit, Executive Director of A Very Special Place. “We hope to continue to support the Assemblywoman and her efforts in helping the Staten Island community rebuild, as well as our mission in empowering people with developmental disabilities to lead fuller lives.”
