Seasoned Nonprofit Leader to Serve as First Chief Executive
Media, PA (November 3, 2016) – The Board of Directors of the Crozer-Keystone Community Foundation today announced that Frances M. Sheehan has been named as the organization’s first President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Ms. Sheehan will assume her position effective January 2, 2017.
As President and CEO, Ms. Sheehan will guide the activities of the new, independent foundation dedicated to the health, education and social needs of the people of Delaware County, Pennsylvania. She will provide executive leadership as the Crozer-Keystone Communi-ty Foundation determines its areas of concentration while it continues to support many of the programs made possible by predecessor foundations allied with Crozer Chester Medical Center and Delaware County Memorial Hospital.
“The Board conducted an exhaustive search for an executive with both the skills and compassion to lead this organization as it establishes itself in Delaware County,” commented Robert J. Bruce, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “We are most pleased that Frances Sheehan accepted the invitation to become our first President and CEO.”
Ms. Sheehan comes to the Crozer-Keystone Community Foundation from the Brandywine Health Foundation, where she was also the founding executive leader. There she directed safety net health providers and youth agencies serving western Chester County, raising and distributing more than $15 million to aid in the transformation of some of Pennsylvania’s poorest communities. Prior to her time at Brandywine Health Foundation, Ms. Sheehan served as President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Chester County, where she guided the operation of four health centers, community education and public policy programs while significantly enlarging the donor and volunteer base. Although much of her professional career has been spent in Chester County, Ms. Sheehan is a longtime resident of Delaware County, where the Crozer-Keystone Community Foundation bases its efforts.
The Crozer-Keystone Community Foundation came into being on July 1, 2016 when Crozer-Keystone Health System was acquired by Prospect Medical Holdings, Inc. The net proceeds of the acquisition were transferred to the new, independent Crozer-Keystone Community Foundation. In addition to raising funds and making grants to improve health in Delaware County, the new foundation will take on the obligation of running some of the previous health system’s public health programs, such as the federally funded Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program and Healthy Start.
