Deputy Defence Minister Nikos Hardalias, who is paying an official visit to Australia, met with the Premier of South Australia Peter Malinauskas in Adelaide on Thursday.
The meeting focused on issues that concern the Greek community and the diaspora, Turkish revisionism and the challenges Greece is facing in the Aegean, the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as the war in Ukraine and its repercussions on the global economy and finally on peace and stability.
In this context, they also discussed Greece’s response through diplomacy, the agreements within bilateral and multilateral schemes and the upgrading of the capabilities of the Greek Armed Forces, as well as the prospects and possibilities of further enhancing bilateral cooperation on multiple levels, such as cooperation in the fields of defence and the defence industry, health, hybrid threats and emerging technologies.
Both sides reaffirmed the close and strong ties of friendship that link the two countries, which are also based on the dynamic presence of the large Greek community.
Other participants in the meeting included the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, also Minister of Energy and Mining, Tom Koutsantonis, the General Consul of Greece in Adelaide Giorgos Psahias and the Greek defence attache Colonel Ioannis Fasianos.
