In his address to the 4th Athens Investment Forum, held by the Technical Chamber of Greece and Vertical Solutions, the minister responsible for Greece’s digital transformation gave seven examples of the government’s key projects in digitization in Greece, including some of their budgets.
Example 1: Smart cities (320 million euros)
Example 2: Smart infrastructure (at public buildings, for observation of air and sea pollution, etc, budgeted at 174 mln euros)
Example 3: Smart bridges (real-time statistics)
Example 4: Microsatellites (for farming and telecoms purposes, budgeted at 161 mln euros). A ministerial decision has already been signed for microsatellites providing online services, Pierrakakis said, adding that Greece may be the first EU country to participate in EU Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton’s plan.
Example 5: The wireless 5G networks on the national highways network (130 mln euros)
Example 6: Building fiber optics infrastructure for buildings
Example 7: Digitizing small and medium-sized enterprises (over 300 mln euros).
