Τhe government has been closely monitoring the energy crisis and the secondary price hike crises since the end of the summer,” government spokesperson Yiannis Economou said at the regular press briefing on Thursday.
He said that the government, for the sixth consecutive month, has been supporting households and enterprises as they face the repercussions of the unprecedented energy crisis, with sums that will reach 2.0 billion euros in February. He also conceded that the increase on prices can’t be fully covered, adding that this was beyond even the most powerful economies. “No other country has taken such drastic measures relative to its population and the size of its economy,” he added.
Economou said that the government is insisting on a strategy of attracting investments and that this strategy is bearing fruit for Greece and the Greek people.
