Turkey tends toward revisionism, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias underlined in an interview with the news website Newsbomb on Thursday.

“Turkey is a country that does not have the same perception of international legality as we do, to put it mildly,” he said.

Asked if there was a channel for communication with Turkey, Dendias pointed out that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan “has in the most absolute way cut this off. He has cut off any contact”.

“At this point we are trying to avoid any further escalation. We are far from a cordial agreement or a climate for holding talks,” the Greek foreign minister underlined.

On the crash of the Antonov aeroplane near Kavala, Dendias said that the Serbian side should have informed Greek authorities about the flight’s contents and this was the reason for Greece’s demarche to Serbia. Due to Ukraine’s involvement in the flight, there was also a demarche to Ukraine, he added.

“We have asked for explanations from both countries. It is obvious that according to the existing rules and provisions, Serbia should have informed Greece about what the specific aeroplane was carrying, about its cargo,” he said.

On Greek-Russian relations, he said that he had made a huge effort in the last three years to improve them but Russia had done the exact opposite of what it said.
