The goal of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his ministers is to first help the vulnerable households and those unable to make ends meet, Development and Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis said on Sunday on SKAI television, talking about the energy crisis.
Asked about the support measures that the premier will announce at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), Georgiadis stressed that he had personally never objected to any measure that helped vulnerable citizens.
He also spoke of an “unprecedented” rate of rapid economic growth, which was better than forecast in the budget, with a “triple record” in investments, and in revenues from tourism and exports. This created fiscal space so that the government was able to not leave anyone without help, he said.
According to Georgiadis, the subsidy for power in Greece was the highest in the world, not just in Europe, while warning that it was still essential to save power because it was now very expensive.
He noted that support measures would be possible as long as the economy continued to overperform and that current goal was to control inflation.
