Development and Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis spoke of the greatest energy crisis in history, speaking to SKAI TV, adding that the hike in natural gas and oil rates, in the shadow of the war in Ukraine, can’t be addressed by a country on its own.
He also said that the European Commission will announce an additional package of measures.
The minister said it was populism to claim that energy rates had increased in Greece because the lignite plants have been shut down and explained that, apart from one plant in Kardia Amynteou that closed in 2018, all the other units are fully operating.
He also underlined that the government is calm and trusts the EU and called on the citizens to consider what would have happened to Greece if it was not a member of the eurozone.
