A meeting on refugee flows from Ukraine to our country, as well as on security issues, was convened on Monday by Citizen Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos.
In the last five days, 1,032 Ukrainian citizens have crossed Greece’s borders and it is estimated that the flows are increasing, a fact that demands immediate actions on issues concerning their reception and settlement.
The implementation of an EU directive on refugees without travel documents with biometric data, the issue of underage refugees and their registration, hospitality infrastructure as well as the implementation of a number of security measures were discussed.
Theodorikakos also spoke on the phone with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Greece, Sergii Shutenko, to whom he reiterated the full support and solidarity of Greece to the Ukrainian people experiencing the violent Russian invasion of their country. The minister stressed that the Greek authorities will do everything necessary to facilitate the Ukrainian refugees and will be in constant cooperation with the Ukrainian embassy.
