The Hellenic News of America team and HNA Publisher Paul Kotrotsios were present at Philadelphia’s Union Stadium on June 4th when the National Football Team of Greece played Nigeria a few days before the World Cup in Brazil. The game ended being a tie (0-0) and the presence of the Greek-American community was beyond great. Young and older Greek-Americans dressed in white and blue and always waving the Greek Flag were there to support the Greek National Football team, inside and outside the stadium. The Greek National team players never felt homesick since the Greek-American community of greater Philadelphia welcomed them as if they were in Greece. This party of Hellenism concluded with Greek-American singer Kalomoira who got the party started outside the stadium before the game started. With no doubt, on June 4th we got a taste of Greece and we realized how supportive the Greek-American community is and can be when it comes to supporting Greece on all levels, even in sports.
