Greek state budget tax revenue exceeded targets by 4.819 billion euros or by 13.5% in the January-September period, the Finance ministry said in a report on Tuesday.
The general government deficit was 4.221 billion euros in the nine-month period, down from a budget target for a shortfall of 10.081 billion and a deficit of 10.150 billion in the same period last year.
The primary result showed a surplus of 52 million euros, from a target for a deficit of 5.943 billion and a primary deficit of 5.960 billion euros in the corresponding period in 2021.
Net revenue was 44.024 billion euros, up 13.4% from targets, while regular budget revenue was 48.364 billion, up 14.5% from targets.
Tax revenue totaled 40.560 billion euros, up 13.5% from targets. VAT revenue exceeded targets by 1.7 billion, special consumption tax revenue exceeded targets by 125 million, property taxes exceeded targets by 643 million and income taxes exceeded targets by 1.5 billion. Tax returns totaled 4.340 billion euros, up 917 million from targets, while Public Investment Programme revenue was 2.394 billion, down 466 million from targets.
Budget spending totaled 48.245 billion euros in the January-September period, down 641 million from targets, while regular budget spending were down 972 million from targets. Budget spending were down by 1.355 billion euros compared with the same period last year.
