Greek Language Conference a Success

A consensus was agreed by major Greek-American leaders and organizations to provide funding for the promotion of Greek language education on Sunday, October 28th afternoon, at the Stathakeion Culture Center in Astoria at 22-51 29th St. The event was sponsored by the Federation of Hellenic American Educators, Hellenic Paideia Organization (E.P.A.), Prometheus Greek Teachers Association with participation by the Athenian Society and .the Hellenic Medical Society of New York. The event was supported by the Theodore & Erica Spyropoulos Foundation.
Theodore Kalmoukos spoke on “The Prospects of Greek Education.” Theodore Spyropoulos, President of SAE (World Council of Hellenes Abroad) attended saying “the Greek language offers us the opportunity to reach self-knowledge and an understanding of the meaning of life, as it is the richest language among all others. Our focus is to charter Greek schools in the United States.”

Ms. Vasiliki Filiotis, a Federation member and President of the Hellenic Paideia Organization stated, “our aim is to promote Greek language, literature, history, art and science.
