The volume of retail sales grew 10.1% in September this year with only department stores recording negative results, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Tuesday. More specifically, turnover rose 26.5% in clothing-footwear, 20% in furniture-home appliance, 18.7% in pharmaceuticals-cosmetics, 18.3% in bookstores, 15.4% in food-alcohol-tobacco, 3.6% in supermarkets and 1.4% in fuel-lubricants. On the other hand, turnover fell 9.5% in department stores.
The retail sales volume index (turnover in fixed prices) rose 10.1% in September compared with the corresponding months last year, but fell 3.1% from August 2021. The seasonally-adjusted index rose 2.2% in September from August.
The retail sales turnover index (turnover in current prices) rose 13% in September from September 2020, but rose 1.1% from August 2021. The seasonally-adjusted index rose 2.7% in September from August.
