On Sunday, May 24, 2020, the Gus Cherevas Estia-Pindus Chapter #326 presented three Scholarship awards to High School seniors who plan to attend colleges of their choice in the Fall of 2020. Their college admission applications were all accepted.
Normally, the award presentation is given in church after the liturgy, but because of the coronavirus pandemic, and adherence to the governmental restrictions social distancing guidelines, the awards were presented by the scholarship committee outside St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Flushing, NY. See photograph below taken from the awards presentation.
The following $1,500 scholarship awards were given:
- Elena Marie Pappas received the Van Pappas/Estia-Pindus Scholarship;
- Christopher Jaupi received the Peter & Joanne Kokkoris Scholarship; and
- Peter Kakivelis received the Andy George Scholarship in memory of his daughter Stella.
