Industrial production jumped 16.5% in October, reflecting a 14.7% increase in manufacturing production, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday. The statistics service, in a monthly report, said the industrial production index rose 16.5% in October compared with the same month last year, after a 3.2% decline recorded in the corresponding period in 2020/2019. This development was attributed to increases of 30.8% in electricity production index and a 14.7% in the manufacturing production index (oil refinery up 53%, computer/opticals up 35%, clothing up 28.3%, alcohol up 17.2%, machinery/equipment up 16.4%, pharmaceuticals up 15.7%). Industrial production fell 2.1% in water production and 4% in mining.
The average industrial production index rose 10.2% in the January-October period, compared with the same period in 2020, while the seasonally-adjusted index rose 2.7% in October from September 2021.
