Regarding this commercial milestone, he said, “It’s amazing of course. ‘Want to Want Me’ is one of those records that anyone can relate to and it’s great to see different people identify with the song. This whole album is very important to me because I got to tell my story, so seeing the response to the song really makes me excited.”
Everything is 4 is the fourth full-length studio effort of his career and it was released on Warner Bros. Records. It features 12 songs, all of which he co-wrote. When asked to select a personal favorite song from his latest project, he picked the fourth track, “Pull Up.” “It is definitely my favorite,” he admitted. “It’s the perfect song to turn up to. You can play it in the club, in the car, anywhere and people will get up and dance.”
Throughout his accomplished career in the music business, Derulo has sold over 45 million singles, and 10 of his singles certified platinum. In 2014, he was the “Most Played Male Artist” in all of radio, where nine of his songs reached the Top 10 on the Top 40 charts; moreover, he serves as a judge on the reality dance competition, So You Think You Can Dance.
His album release concert for iHeartRadio at the iHeartRadio Theater in New York City, presented by P.C. Richard and Son, garnered a favorable review from Digital Journal, and it allowed him to premiere his new music for his fans in an intimate setting.
Derulo concluded our interview by furnishing his definition of the word success. “Success means being true to myself and doing things that make me happy. For a while, I had to live in a way that kind of wasn’t authentic to me. Now, I’m able to show all of my different sides, tell my story and have fun. That’s what success is to me,” he said.
