Dr. Peter Stavrianidis is a successful entrepreneur and the principal of the fourth generation family business “Venus Jewelers & Gemologists, Inc.” located in Somerset, NJ.
His education includes a BBA & an MBA from the City University of New York (Baruch College), a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Political Sociology from the Panteion University of Athens, and a multitude of designations and diplomas in the fields of Gemology, Evaluation of Precious metals & minerals and he is an innovative designer of fine jewelry.
He has received several professional awards in the jewelry industry and he is a frequent speaker in some of the most well attended forums in his field. He is a proud member of the American Gem Society, the most prestigious society in the industry, that accepts only a handful of professionals who have excelled in this field.
Dr. Stavrianidis has been active in the Hellenic-American Community for over 35 years and has held numerous leadership posts with organizations connected with Hellenic Issues of the Diaspora and the Genocide of Asia Minor. As a passionate political activist and lobbyist for Hellenic and Pontian Issues he was honored in May 2007 by the Greek American Lobby in Washington for his dedicated, consistent and effective service.
Dr. Stavrianidis is the Past President of the Pan-Pontian Federation of US & Canada and it was during his tenure that the first state proclamations in 2002 (NY & NJ) – regarding the Asian Minor and Pontian Genocide – took place. He is currently the President of the scientific and cultural organization “The Hellenic Link of New Jersey” and he sits on the Board of Trustees of the State Theatre of New Jersey and the Harvest of Hope, a philanthropic organization that provides services to youth in foster care.
Besides being a successful entrepreneur and an academic researcher, Dr. Stavrianidis has a passion for education teaching occasionally, as an adjunct professor, courses in Management, Team Development and Leadership at the Fashion Institute of Technology (SUNY).
Dr. Stavrianidis has been honored by the Greek Orthodox Church with the offikion Archon Aktouarios of the Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and has been appointed by His Eminence Metropolitan Evangelos on the Education Committee of the Metropolis of New Jersey.
He currently resides in Somerset, NJ, with his wife Maggie and their three sons George, Jason & Constantine.
