Greece has entered a trajectory of dynamic growth with a promising future, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Sunday, in a social media posting reviewing his government’s work.
Mitsotakis, whose weekly postings were suspended during the two local government elections in the last two Sundays, spoke of Standard & Poor’s upgrade for Greece on Friday night, “confirming that Greece has entered a trajectory of dynamic growth with perspective. This is not accidental, but a result of the reformist policy we have been applying the last few years. And that is how we shall continue,” he said. He added,
“Greece is before a historic window of opportunity, as the right mix of economic policy combines with political stability. It is therefore our patriotic duty to utilize the opportunity and move ahead to the benefit of all Greeks, especially the weakest ones.”
The premier noted the new institutional framework that allowed better fire prevention and management of forests, the upcoming new fleet of urban buses in Athens and Thessaloniki, a new record for Greece of energy independence through renewable energy sources, the start of vaccinations with the updated vaccine for Covid, the new framework of transparency and accountability of Civil Society Organizations, the sale of the Igoumenitsa Port Authority SA, and the formation of a High-Level Consulting Committee for Artificial Intelligence.
He also outlined the assistance provided to Thessaly and Central Greece residents who were affected by devastating floods, referred to a new framework for outstanding loans that allow better protection of borrowers in terms of servicer obligations, and underlined the new rules that allow pensioners better conditions for continuing to work which as of January 1, 2024 will not be withholding 30% of their pension.
Mitsotakis also mentioned improvements in health, including the expansion of the system of personal doctors, the electronic tracking of medication distribution, and a better system for scheduling surgeries at public hospitals.
