The European Union needs to assume bold action, as the natural gas market does not function properly, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said at the first European Political Community (EPC) meeting in Prague on Thursday.
Speaking at the panel “Energy, Climate, Economy” that he co-chaired with Swiss President Ignazio Cassis, Mitsotakis said that the European Union must examine the possibility of intervening in the wholesale natural gas market, and expressed satisfaction that the European Commission had adopted Greece’s proposal.
The Greek PM also expressed the hope a resolution of the price issue will be reached by the end of October, and he called for more solidarity between European states, similar to what there was during the coronavirus pandemic, as no country can go its own way.
