Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the remote island of Pserimos, SE Aegean, on Thursday.
There he met with the mayor and prefect of Kalymnos – to which region the island belongs administratively – and with the former mayor of Tarpon Springs Chris Alachouzos, whose origin is from Kalymnos. The premier also spoke with local residents who spoke of some of their current issues, said government sources.
Mitsotakis visited the island’s police station, port authority and clinic, where he met with the island’s doctor, Menelaos Samaras, and made special mention of the use of telemedicine on the island. “Telemedicine provides a new doctor with the opportunity to have access to our most experienced doctors in Athens, so that every case can be treated with the required specialization (…) and allows us to remain on and visit small remote islands feeling medically safe,” he noted.
Earlier in the day, the premier visited the island of Kos. His final stop for the day will be the island of Astypalea.
