“I have come here to present my vision for the development of Thrace, a crossroads of cultures, a dynamic, developing Thrace that creates new jobs and advancement opportunities for you, your children and your grandchildren,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Friday, addressing citizens of Xanthi who gathered in the city’s central square to welcome him.

The prime minister expressed his joy to be embarking on his tour of Thrace from Xanthi, saying it was a city for which he had great fondness and remembered from a visit carried out in 2002 with his father Konstantinos Mitsotakis.

Referring to the parliamentary elections, the prime minister said that he was satisfied because, “despite the very great difficulties we faced as a country, I can look you in the eyes and tell you that we did what we had promised”.

Mitsotakis wished those present a happy new year and a new victory for New Democracy in the elections.

Earlier, he walked through the center of Xanthi, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Macedonia and Thrace Stavros Kalafatis, the regional governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Christos Metios, the secretary of the Political Committee of New Democracy Pavlos Marinakis and the local MP Spyros Tsilingiris.
